Lawley’s Bakery Cafe is a cafe in the traditional European sense, where great coffee and delicious cafe-style food is served up every day alongside fresh bread and baked goods from the in-house bakery. Perth’s Loafers Artisan was formed ten years ago by Alaine Guthrie and Damian Norvilas who decided it would be a great idea to bake a few batches of loaves and rolls and hold a stall at Subiaco Farmers Market. The experiment was originally intended to be a one off event for fun but when all their bread had sold out within a couple of hours, the pair realised they were onto something – there must be something special about the bread they were producing and so Loafers Artisan Perth was created. Second, heighten public awareness about motor neuron disease and ALS in particular, and third, donate to research investigating ALS cures. To fund our travelling food caravan dream and charitable goals, we sold most of our possessions, including our home. But three days later, COVID-19 shut Australia down.
