The current corona situation doesn’t make it easy for anyone. The golf world has also changed due to the virus, and now some rules must be adhered to when golfing. So, playing golf in times of Corona comes with a few rules. We have written five tips on how to behave properly to protect yourself and others on your lap.
Tip 1: No gatherings
Even if you are definitely looking forward to seeing your golf colleagues again after a long time, you still have to be patient with the team. Therefore, avoid gatherings in the parking lot as well as in the clubhouse and the restaurant. When the Corona crisis is over, you can all play, laugh, eat together again and maybe even more extensively than ever!
Tip 2: Ensure hygiene
Pay particular attention to hygiene. Take enough towels and disinfectant with you when you go around to be prepared for any eventuality. Change your towels after each visit and ideally wash your clothes and gloves more often than usual. Disinfect your glove if necessary.

Tip 3: Keep your distance
Play proactively. Keep a sufficient distance from golfers playing in advance and keep an eye on the flights that follow to ensure social distancing throughout. If necessary, point out the rules of the distance to the flights before or after you. Some golf clubs require that the order must be followed and that flights should not be overtaken.
Tip 4: touch fewer objects
Before and after the round, try to touch as few objects as possible that are accessible to everyone, both on the ground and on the rest of the club premises, such as in the clubhouse. So you should not use or remove the flags to reduce the risk of viruses. The ball cleaner and other items on the golf course should also be avoided at this time.
Tip 5: smooth the bunker with your foot
Based on tip 4, you shouldn’t touch the rake on the bunker either and smooth the sand of the bunker with your foot. This also minimizes the risk of transmitting or absorbing viruses.
Remember: these rules are temporary. The sooner the rules are followed by everyone, the sooner they can kick off again as usual without hesitation. Stay healthy!

Some Recommendations for enjoying golf with Health Protection:
- Use your own pencils or similar for all writing work.
- Avoid rental equipment whenever possible.
- Carry disinfectant wipes with you to wipe cart steering wheels and seats, etc.
- Bring your own containers (buckets, bags) for the range balls, as disinfection of all ball baskets cannot be guaranteed.
- Do not exchange scorecards, tees, balls, or ball markers. A comparison and a report for the game management can be made on request and without proofreading or handing over the scorecard in the tournament. The marker does not have to be signed.
- Always leave the flag – if it is inserted – in the hole (if necessary, fix it using the local rule), do not touch the flagpole.
- Do not rake the bunker, do not touch the handle of the rake. If necessary, level the sand with your foot or club head.
- Clean balls with your own (wet) towel; avoid ball washers.
- Leave found balls lying around.
- Leave the golf glove on the green and pull the ball out of the hole with your gloved hand.
- If necessary, spray the glove regularly with disinfectant spray.
- Frequent hand washing instead of handshakes
- For the usual handshake, a greeting from a distance is enough. Use an “Air Five” instead of a “High five” or a respectful crossing or tapping the putter. And a friendly word says more than a thousand gestures in these times anyway.
