Dr Kumareswaran founded The Endocrine and Diabetes Centre, Melbourne. She undertook specialist training in New Zealand and the UK. She was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2012. Kavita completed a PhD at the University of Cambridge in 2012. Her research focussed on testing a closed loop system of insulin delivery in people with type 1 diabetes. This ‘artificial pancreas’ uses real time continuous glucose monitoring to automate insulin pump delivery. This was a unique opportunity to study alongside internationally renowned medical scientists. She gained new skills and knowledge that she has been able to translate into clinical practice in Australia.

Associate Professor Carolyn Allan graduated in medicine from Monash University with honours and undertook advanced training in endocrinology at Prince Henry’s Hospital/Monash Medical Centre and at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. Whilst in the UK she completed a diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. After returning to Australia in 1999 she completed a PhD in Andrology at Prince Henry’s Institute (now the Hudson Institute of Medical Research). Her work has been recognised with numerous research awards and she has written chapters, reviews and editorials in leading texts and journals on the topic of testosterone disorders. Since 2001 A/Prof Allan has been a member of Senior Medical Staff in the Departments of Endocrinology and Diabetes at Monash Health. She is the inaugural Head of the Endocrine Pregnancy Service and was previously Head of the Diabetes Pregnancy Service.
