Sweet Bones is a vegan café and bakery in Braddon, Canberra, Australia. Owners Emily and Russell Brindley have a passion for no frills whole foods. The café has a rustic, rock’n’roll feeing with a friendly local vibe. The food is inventive, cruelty free and most of all delicious. We source as much local and organic ingredients as possible and most items can be made gluten free. Due to how busy it can get, we don’t take reservations. There is also a 10% surcharge on Sunday which goes directly to our staff.

At La Baguette by R&M we make everything in-house from scratch. We only buy the raw ingredients that we then turn into typical and delicious French goods. We work using the traditional French methods and with only very little machinerie. From our traditional baguettes to our sourdough or rye loaves without forgetting our everyday freshly baked pastries and our daily specials there is something for everyone!
We are also proud to be an almost zero waste café. We have made the decision of producing enough food to get us through the day until about 3pm. At this time of the day we have normally ran out of all our perishable food which means we do not throw anything away except for a few food scraps that we cannot reuse.

Sonoma’s story begins in the late 1940s, with a little boy’s adventures in a country bakery. As a young boy, Kerry Connole would visit his grandparents at their Busy Bee general store in the NSW country town of Bellata. But it was in the adjoining, 24sqm bakery that he spent most of his time. Kerry would watch the local baker kneading, stretching and shaping dough, before putting it in the oven where it was transformed into golden loaves. He didn’t know it yet, but that experience would be the beginning of Sonoma.Years later, on a whim, Kerry leased the old bakery for $1,000 per year and restored it with his sons Andrew and Christian. It was 1997 and none of them had ever baked a loaf before, all they knew was that they wanted to make beautiful, wood fired bread.
