Moorabool Valley Chocolate began in May 2005, operating from a farmhouse kitchen built in the 1920s. That was soon outgrown, and a bedroom at the front of the house was converted into a commercial kitchen.
2008 saw the next stage in the expansion of the business, when the cafe was added, opening to the public three days before Mother’s Day.
In 2011 the chocolatiers moved out of the shared kitchen into a dedicated chocolate preparation area. Chocolate moulding machines and an enrober were purchased. Recently we added a spinning machine to assist in making hollow figures such as Santas and Easter bunnies.
The business employs nine staff, and supplies chocolates to a number of coastal bed-and-breakfast premises, as well as local estate agents and other organisations.
Owner and chocolatier, Lynne Meek, is responsible for the planning and creation of the chocolate range and cafe items. She learned her craft at the Melbourne’s prestigious Savour Chocolate & Patisserie School, where chocolatiers from all over our region receive their training. Our team of chocolatiers takes pride in bringing you custom-made, unique chocolate creations.

Inspired and educated by German chocolatiers, Hahndorf’s opened their first store in late 2001. North Balwyn, 7 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD, was selected as the perfect location.
The North Balwyn store was the first in Melbourne to offer a café style chocolate shop producing chocolate so that customers could relax, enjoy a coffee, hot chocolate, milkshake and cakes while sampling the chocolates.
