For over 10 years now we have built our reputation on great customer service, outstanding products and competitive prices. In the beginning, our main focus was providing chocolates for weddings and special events, both directly to customers and to other specialty stores. Our growth and success has led to us opening up our retail store in November, 2009 in Gladesville, Sydney. Sidney Davies started making chocolates from his home kitchen in 1932. Spurred on by a passionate belief in the handmade approach, he crafted together the most delicious assortment of fondants, hard centres, jellies and ginger, scrumptiously coated with only the finest chocolate.
From those humble beginnings, Sid expanded the business with the help of his son in law John Williams. The business was a great success, supplying 100’s of golf, bowling, leagues, RSL and country clubs in NSW including the Governor at Government House.
Soon enough the men established for themselves a name as suppliers of fine quality, handmade chocolate using unique recipes and the best ingredients.
In the mid 1980’s Margaret Kimber took over, growing the business through new and innovative pack design. In fact Davies Chocolates were the first to ever offer up picture boxes using Australian images to the market.

Humble in it’s beginnings, Fardoulis Chocolates began in 1985 with what started as an idea to create a unique after dinner mint for restaurants and cafes with a two-tone milk/dark chocolate swirl. The company grew quickly developing the after dinner chocolate market with more varieties and flavours. Distribution was developed nationwide via a network of wholesalers and before long were producing over 400,000 units per week of individually wrapped chocolates for the food service industry.
In 1996, through popular demand of brides and grooms, Fardoulis Chocolates created what was known as the ‘Wedding Chocolates’, which were personalised gift boxes for bonbonniere. An online shopping website was then developed to cater for customers and as a result produced thousands of personalised gift boxed chocolates which helped make the wedding day extra special.
A few years later through growth and enthusiasm, Fardoulis Chocolates expanded into the retail market experimenting with unique flavours, recipes and exquisite packaging. Thus, in 2002 we have established a range of eye catching chocolate gift boxed products now available Australia wide in major department stores like David Jones, TK Maxx Stores and specialised gourmet/gifting shops.

Way back in 2010 when we (Tom and Kelly Mitchell) began our fledgling operation, we chose to specialise in an exciting niche market: creating wedding candy buffets. It gave us a lot of pleasure to work with bridal parties to design sweet and stunning colour themed candy creations. Over time, our candy buffets gained in popularity and we started diversifying, covering birthday parties, christenings, garden teas, and all sorts of corporate events.
By this time, the craze for single coloured candy buffets had really caught on, and our customers became candy visionaries. Keen to create their very own custom candy buffets, they now demanded the finest selection of colourful lollies to make their candy visions a reality. We were more than happy to oblige. Candy Bar Sydney launched our ‘Candy Shop’ in 2012 and we stocked it lovingly with our absolute favourite products and brands, among them plenty of true blue Aussie suppliers.

Much mystery still surrounds these origins. The arrival of the Spanish Armada lead to the name Kakawa being changed to Cacao We at Kakawa make all of our chocolates with no preservatives or artificial flavours using only the finest natural ingredients. All our products are gluten free.
